Youth Blood Donation Programme | Avanish Foundation

I am very happy to inform you that a new program is being organized by Avanishh Foundation from today, which has been named as Youth Blood Donation Programme.

And you must know that we are keeping this program on 14th because of the fact that the Pulwama attack happened on 14th February 2019, when the vehicles carrying Indian security personnel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.  The convoy was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethpora in Pulwama district of the former state of Jammu and Kashmir.  40 Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), were killed in the attack.  This program is going to be organized in his memory, perhaps Avanishh Foundation will be able to express a true tribute to him through this programme.

Why donate blood..?

Blood is the living substance on which all life rests.  It is 60 percent liquid and 40 percent solid.  The substance is called plasma which contains 90 percent water and 10 percent nutrients, hormones etc. and this food is made very quickly by medicines etc.  But the solid part of the blood, which consists of RBCs, WBCs and platelets, takes a long time to regenerate.

This is where your role comes into play.  The amount of time it takes for a patient to get these elements back can cost him/her his/her life.  Sometimes the body is not even in a position to bring them back.

You know that blood cannot be produced, only its donation is possible.  That is, only you can save the person who is in need of blood.

Every year India needs 40 million units of 250 cc of blood, of which only 500,000 units are available.
